Nearly two decades ago, Bob Nicholson of Eastern Propane (Sparta, N.J.) had a vision for the inclusion of propane in the industrial history of the United States. A stalwart of keeping the industry's early years and its founder from being lost in the annals, Nicholson began his crusade that culminated with the August 3 opening of the propane section in the National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH), the first Smithsonian affiliate in the U.S.
