PURPOSE: Methods for pattering photonic crystals for improving the light extraction efficiency of light-emitting diodes and a light-emitting diode produced using the same method are provided to enhance light extraction efficiency by including a light reflection control layer. CONSTITUTION: In methods for pattering photonic crystals for improving the light extraction efficiency of light-emitting diodes and a light-emitting diode produced using the same method, a first semiconductor layer(2) is a first conductivity type. An active layer(3) is formed on the first semiconductor layer. A second semiconductor layer(4) is formed on the active layer and is a second conductive type different from the first conductive type. A photonic crystal pattern layer(5) is formed on the second semiconductor layer and has an uneven pattern.
