There is related a method for manufacturing lithium or sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imidide salt represented by the formula (III) F-(SO)-N-(SO)-FM(M=Na,Li). A product obtained by the method is a composition containing at least 99.5 wt.% of lithium or sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide and 1000 ppm as even maximum of (1) LiCl, LiF and LiFSO, or (2) NaCl, NaF and NaFSO.SELECTED DRAWING: None
