A food container 101 comprises two sides 102a, 102b joined by an elastic gusset 107 having corrugations arranged to provide a compressive force when in use. There may be a notch which may have a rim defined by a curved edge 104 in each side 102a, 102b. There may be a curved edge 103 on each side 102a, 102b where the gusset 107 joins. Alternatively, there may be two or three straight edges which the gusset 107 is attached to. There may be protrusions (figure 3 301a, 301b) to stabilise the container. The corrugations may be semi-circular, square, saw tooth or zig-zag in shape. The container 101 may be made of silicon rubber or a thermoplastic elastomer. The container 101 may be one-piece by injection moulded. Furthermore, opening of the container 101 may involve inserting a food item and releasing the sides to grip the food.
