Villeroy & Boch: Unsettled Year Marked by the Economic Crisis

Group turnover for 2008 totaled EUR 841 mill., matching the previous year's level. The turnover increases in the first four months were a good start. But the severe slow-down in business, especially in the fourth quarter of 2008, necessitated the development of a package of measures to improve competitiveness. The persisting economic crisis is making the need to take action more acute: Creation of competence centres for tableware and bathrooms; Extensive job adjustments in Germany and abroad.
