Molybdenum oxide prices continued to slide Monday as industry participants described the market as “rotten” and said there were no buyers despite increasingly low offers. Platts’ daily molybdenum oxide assessment was at $7.40-$7.45/lb, down from $7.40-$7.50/lb, and market participants said sellers were keen to move oxide powder but they were unable to find anyone willing to take a position. This poor sentiment was coupled with many market participants attending an industry conference.
