ONE OF AUSTRALIA'S newest nickel producers has optioned a sulphide bacterial heap leaching technology which was successfully tested on a low grade copper project in China. During mid August, Western Areas NL informed the market it had signed a heads of agreement with Pacific Ore Pty Ltd to purchase BioHeap~(TM) - a process which was first used at the Radio Hill nickel mine in Western Australia and has since been pilot tested at the Huogeqi base metals development in Inner Mongolia.
