Having started off in the electronics industry and material sciences, nanotechnology is now increasingly taking a foothold in our daily lives. One topic currently under discussion is the use of nanomaterials in food, food packaging and kitchen utensils. To explore the opportunities and risks and for the purposes of monitoring labelling requirements, it is necessary to develop methods for the detection and characterization of nanomaterials in the food sector.
