Denmark and Poland restarted talks on Feb. 7 to try to resolve a 40-year maritime border dispute, in part to set a route for the Baltic Pipe natural gas project. The dispute started in the 1970s and is over an area of roughly 3,600 sq km to the south of the Danish island of Bornholm. "We hope the unresolved issue ... will be solved in the spirit of good neighborly relations, as our countries are allies in EU and Nato today," Poland's Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Piotr Wawrzyk said in a statement. "Moreover, we closely cooperate on different regional projects in the Baltic Sea area."
