Vienna-Lukoil CEO Vagit Alekperov on Wednesday met with Saudi energy minister Khalid al-Falih and Iraqi deputy oil minister Fayadh Nema in Vienna to discuss existing and potential future cooperation, and said he plans to hold similar discussions with the Iranian oil minister Thursday. The meetings took place after Saudi and Iraqi delegations arrived in the Austrian capital ahead of the OPEC ministerial meeting due to take place on Thursday. Russia’s second biggest producer, Lukoil is looking to build on existing successful upstream operations in Iraq. The company is also in talks with China’s CNPC on creating a consortium to develop the Nassirya project, Alekperov said.
