Lagos—Nigeria’s troubled oil sector could face further disruption after the country’s senior oil workers union Pengassan threatened to order its members to withdraw their services from offices and oil fields if the government fails to stem a spate of kidnappings and other security challenges in the Niger Delta. Pengassan said its call on the government followed recent kidnappings of two oil workers and the killing of another in the creeks of the Delta, which according to the union, has further compounded the challenges facing the sector already rocked by an upsurge in oil theft.
