Colombia’s Pacific Pipeline to target Asia

Bogota—Enbridge has enlisted several major partners in its proposed $5 billion Pacific Pipeline to connect Colombia’s heavy oil fields with the Pacific port city of Buenaventura and, pending environmental approvals, could begin construction by late 2015, the company said Tuesday. Enbridge vice president Douglas Montgomery said in an interview that six partners have joined the 250,000 b/d capacity project including Cenit, the newly formed pipeline entity spun off earlier this year by state-controlled Ecopetrol. Pacific Rubiales, Colombia’s second largest producer after Ecopetrol, has also invested in the project.
