Sydney-Australia's Woodside Petroleum has called for its trade-exposed LNG exports to be exempt from any price on carbon, given the absence of an international agreement on pricing greenhouse gas emissions. Woodside is the operator and one-sixth owner of Australia's North West Shelf joint venture, which exports 16.3 million mt/year of LNG to buyers in Asia and provides around two-thirds of the 1 Bcf/d of domestic gas consumed in the state of Western Australia. Woodside is also set to start up the 4.3 mil- lion mt/year Pluto LNG project in Western Australia later this year.
