California study looks at calcium utilization

It's human nature, it seems, to want to find the quickest fix to solve problems. Sometimes, though, the quickest, most obvious seeming fixes aren't always the most effective, economical solutions. An example of this is farmers' tendencies to add calcium to their soils to try to increase their plants' uptake of calcium. Calcium, which helps build cell walls, is important for plants' growth. But, according to recent studies by University of California researchers, adding more calcium to the soil doesn't necessarily impact how much actual calcium a plant utilizes.
