摘要

Although the musculoskeletal conditions affecting musicians have been acknowledged since the early 1700s, the prevailing mantra has been that of "no pain,, no gain."3'4 Performing arts medicine developed as health care providers began to understand the anatomic and physiologic stresses endured while playing an instrument and their associated injury patterns. It is a collaborative field of both nonsurgical and surgical specialists devoted to understanding and treating injures that frequently complicate musical practice and performance.
