LM 6000-PC Sprint-powered facility designed with future expansion, environment and efficiency in mind. Lincoln Electric System (LES), a summer peaking utility with a 2004 peak of 741 MW, has finished construction of a power plant located in Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.A. The 175 MW Salt Valley Generating Station (SVGS) power plant, designed for intermediate and peaking service, was fully commissioned last August. The station consists of three GE LM6000-PC Sprint aero derivative, dual-fuel combustion turbines (CT). Two of the units are configured to operate in combined-cycle mode with a 28 MW steam turbine also supplied by GE, The plant also has a 1.75 MW Cummins-powered black start diesel generator for emergency operation. Often during peak load periods LES cannot import energy from other utilities because of transmission system loading constraints. This was one driving force in the decision to locate the plant within the LES service area.
