Response to commentary on: The evolving role of physiotherapists in pre-employment screening for workplace injury prevention: are functional capacity evaluations the answer?' Modern perspectives on pre-employment functional capacity testing for injury prevention

May I first extend my gratitude to the author of the invited commentary1 for their additional contribution to this paper.There were three main points intended from the original paper: (i) there is a scarcity of published scientific research investigating the validity of pre-employment functional testing; (ii) pre-employment testing seeks to identify only the physical aspect of an individual's risk of injury and is therefore only one part of the solution for reducing workplace muscu-loskeletal injuries; and, (iii) therapists need to be aware of the legislative and ethical frameworks in which they conduct these assessments and subsequently make and present their recommendations accordingly. It is pleasing to see that Berecki-Gisolf echoed these points in her commentary.
