Existing Copper Network Offers A SCADA Data Transport Alternative

To leverage cost advantages of the existing network infrastructure wherever possible, one strategy for organizations using SCADA in pipeline environments is to deliver that data to the nearest hop-off point for the copper-based telecom network. Most pipeline monitoring points are within reasonable range of a telephone company remote cabinet, and with only a short wireless or wired link, can utilize the telco network from that point.
