The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) has named Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass.) as its second annua Legislator of the Year. Rep. Frank is Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. He has been in Congress since 1981. Previously he was a Massachusetts State Representative and an assistant to the Mayor of Boston. He has also taught at several Boston area universities. Rep. Frank's selection as NAHRO Legislator of the Year honors his longstanding commitment to providing decent, safe and affordable housing in quality communities for families in need. In 2007, Rep. Frank worked on legislation on a wide variety of issues of importance to NAHRO members, including asset management implementation reforms; Section 8 voucher reform; creation of a housing trust fund; FHA reform; and reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
