More test results find ITX in food packaging

The German environment non-governmental organisation Deutsche Umwelthilfe has fired off its fourth letter to consumer minister Horst Seehofer in less than two weeks calling for action over the levels of the chemical ITX, used to dry ink on food and drinks packaging. In its latest round of tests published this week, DUH found 447 μg/kg of ITX in an Aloe Vera drink which is ironically sold as a health drink. It also found 247 μg/kg in a carton of orange juice marketed at children in Metro and 59 μg/kg of ITX in a tomato juice called Tip Toll Im Preis.
