摘要

Roadside Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) caused the deaths of 259 International Security Force (ISAF) personnel in 2009. In order to protect troops from these attacks, ground vehicles needed to adapt and become more resilient against explosions.The Physical Sciences Department at Dstl is involved in researching and advising the MoD in how best to protect armoured vehicles from IEDs. Working alongside DE&S and industrial partners, Dstl assists in developing new, innovative concepts that protect ground troops on the move.
