Three shires to axe tendered routes

Three major English shire counties - Derbyshire, Lancashire and Oxfordshire - have taken decisions to axe all their tendered bus services. The impact is being felt first in Lancashire, where the council says it needs to make additional savings of £262million in order to be able to meet its statutory obligations - which do not include supported public transport - by April 2018. It is ending the subsidies from 2 April.
