Lipids for the future: From agro-resources to human health

摘要

This special issue of Biochimie, entitled "Lipids for the future: From agro-resources to human health" presents 20 contributions, mainly reviews, dealing with major concerns of society to improve health using the biodiversity of molecules present in the environment, particularly lipids. In order to illustrate this topic, this special edition includes articles on a wide range of domains that have been organized by themes (1) biodiversity, production and valorisation of lipids, (2) lipid metabolism and methods of investigation, (3) biomimetic membranes and biophysical tools for their characterization and (4) from diseases to prevention. The understanding of the beneficial effects of lipids on health relies on an exhaustive knowledge of these natural molecules present in all types of living organism.
