基于语料库的文学译者风格研究——以《西厢记》两个英译本为例

摘要

《西厢记》为元代戏剧家王实甫所著，是我国古典戏剧的现实主义杰作，对后来以爱情为题材的小说、戏剧创作影响很大。二十世纪上半叶以来，《西厢记》先后多次被译成英语，受到国外读者的青睐，因而《西厢记》译本的对比研究，对了解译者各自的翻译风格和促进中国古典戏曲的传播，都具有极其重要的意义。本研究采用语料库文体学方法，对《西厢记》的许渊冲译本(Romance of the Western Bower)和West&Idema译本(The Story of the Western Wing)中的译者风格进行研究。并以由同时期英语原创戏曲所构成的对比语料库为参考，在此基础上对两位译者的翻译风格做定性分析。本研究主要探讨以下几个问题:(1)《西厢记》两个译本在语音上有什么特点;(2)《西厢记》在词汇层面上有什么特征;(3)《西厢记》的翻译在句子层面如何进行操作;(4)《西厢记》在语篇层面是如何实现连贯性和可表演性的。研究发现，West&Idema译本以散文体翻译为主，译本异化程度高，且其译本所用动词多于许译本，可表演性较高;许渊冲译本注重韵律的实现，且译本韵律形式多样——除尾韵外，行内韵和隔行押韵也使用较多，译本归化程度高。然而两版本的译者都对原文进行了切分和合并处理，但采用的翻译句式稍有差别。这个研究结果不仅有助于读者更加客观和直接地了解译者风格，而且对解读该译者其他译作也具有一定的参考意义。
