Most recent wireless networks research has focused on providing routing without considering security. Nowadays, secure routing protocols become a hot research topic, since different levels of security threats face the network. Most of the proposed secure routing protocols do not take into consideration the available resources at the node level. In this research, we propose a Secure Route selection scheme for wireless networks that integrates a Resource Estimation Method with a security-based unit (SRREM) to select the best secure route among the network, while protecting the network from being congested by heavy traffic loads. The proposed scheme is modeled and designed based on agent-based approach, such that the whole process was decomposed into a set of intercommunicated sub-agents.
