To counter the noted decrease in qualified pharmacists applying for residency programs, the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital (JAHVH) Pharmacy Service analyzed and revamped its Pharmacy Residency Program and application/interview process to attract a greater number and higher quality of Pharmacy Resident candidates. We estimated the benefits of this project as: 1) An increase in the quality of the Pharmacy Residency Program 2) An increase in the quality of care to Veterans This analysis took place Feb 2001 through July 2001. An informal survey of current residents indicates the recommendations implemented as a result of this analysis were effective.
