摘要

A simple method for determining the load and resistance factors for structural design is proposed. The basic principles of the load and resistance factor format is reviewed and the basis for the determination of load and resistance factors using the third moment method are described. It is found that although the factors obtained with the third moment method are different from those obtained using the first order reliability method, the required structural resistances under a specific design condition are the same.
