摘要： Figure-ground theory is originated from psychology and was then introduced to cognitive linguistics.The basic principle of figure-ground theory is proximity.The figure is a theme and the background serves a foil to it.Both Chinese and English poetry use different images,some of which are figures and some are backgrounds.This paper interprets image in poetry on the basis of figure-ground theory.

摘要： As one of the African diasporas,Harryette Mullen arranged a spiritual return to her African origin.Through memory tracing of Africa,a connection between the poet and Africa has been established.Mullen presents ways of spiritual return for contemporary African diasporas which can be seen as the journey of self-pursuing.Facing the unhealable cracks between diasporas and their origin,Mullen tries to bridge the cracks of African literary development while embraces it by constructing her diasporic identity and obtaining ethnic writer’s authority through it.

摘要： The Peony Pavilion Northern Kunqu Opera Theater Date:March 5-6,2022 Venue:National Center for the Performing Arts During the Southern Song Dynasty(1127–1279),the Nan’an Prefect Du Bao is bent on raising his daughter Du Liniang to become a noble lady.He employs Chen Zuiliang,a student of the prefectural school,as Liniang’s teacher,and asks the maidservant Chunxiang to be her reading partner.The father instills the“virtues of the queen”into his daughter by means of the Classic of Poetry,one of the“Five Classics”in ancient China.However,contrary to her parents’wishes,Liniang gives her heart completely to nature.

摘要： I believe everyone has got his or her own impression and feeling about the poem recitation in Chinese and Japanese after watching the wonderful video.I’d like to take this opportunity to share my impression.The special session of China-Japan Poetry Exchange Conference during the Li Bai Poetry Festival held in Ma’anshan serves as a vivid demonstration of inheriting the good historical tradition of cultural exchanges between China and Japan.

摘要： Metaphors are used frequently in all sciences that adopt common words to name complex realities.So we can understand"the general doctor as a poet."The value of family medicine/general medicine lies in its distinctiveness from academic medicine.It replaced categories by"process and influences/relationships."In its scientific method sensory experience plays an important role.There are many forms of knowledge.Poetry is a source of knowledge by providing us with perspectives of reality.The poet is alone and he/she wants to begin to"express emotions,feelings or sensations."In the same way,the general practitioner who is"a clinician,not a scientist",is alone in his office,amidst the vast health/illness of his patients.General practitioner wants to grasp the deep meaning of health/disease;but that is too daunting a task.That is why his descriptions of diseases are clinical cases;his attempt to achieve a statistical picture of diseases is"blank."But,despite that,his/her results are not empty;quite the contrary,they can be savoured,so to speak;as a poetry.

摘要： William Butler Yeats(1865-1939),the winner of Nobel Prize for Literature,has attracted extensive research attention from academia in recent years.This paper aims to discuss various myths Yeats uses in his poetic creation,focusing on the analysis of the multiple application of myth,including myths performing as the mythic themes of the worldly,the spiritual,and the emotional,as poetic images,as emotional and intellectual symbols,and as political metaphors.

摘要： In 1962,the Russian linguist Romain Jakobson and the French anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss co-conducted a study on the poem The Cats(Les Chats)by Charles Baudelaire.Based on linguistic and ethnological references,their study focuses on a structural analysis of the famous Baudelairian sonnet at several levels such as phonological,phonetic,syntactic,prosodic,and semantic.Many critical papers were published as soon as this work appeared.Faced with the crowd of dispute and opposition,Jakobson and Lévi-Strauss wrote a series of journalistic or monographic articles to explain and defend themselves.Our study aims to be a systematic summary of the dispute,proposing to analyze the criticisms of Riffatere,Mounin,and Frandon,and giving a reading of Jakobson’s reply.In conclusion,we will try to relate this debate to the French New Criticism(la Nouvelle Critique)to understand its historical and theoretical importance.

摘要： Poetry is a kind of literature genre that highly concentrates on reflecting social life.It is full of the author’s thoughts,feelings and rich imagination.It has a concise and vivid language,a distinct rhythm and harmonious rhyme.This paper mainly ana⁃lyzes the differences between Chinese and Western poetry in terms of artistic techniques due to cultural differences and other fac⁃tors as an argument.The poetry in eastern culture mainly presents the characteristics of concise and implicit words.Compared with the poetry in western culture,the poetry in eastern culture more presents the characteristics of precise language and logical meticu⁃lousness,and makes image comparison and analysis.It discusses the Chinese and Western poetry similarities and differences in po⁃etry.

摘要： This paper is an application of Johnathan Culler’s Structuralist Poetics from 1975 combined with the language codes of Roland Barthes which he developed in his study of S/Z to the close reading of poetry.Culler’s main argument is that there must be another strategy combined with all major approaches in Structuralist thought in that time period.His answer to this problem was to develop a set of strategies or concepts to compensate for the reader in the analysis of literary works.I outline in this essay my approach based on the language codes of Roland Barthes:semantic,symbolic,cultural-referential,actional and hermeneutic.After a brief discussion of my understanding and contextualization of Structuralism today for this particular genre application,I apply the concepts to a reading of the famous William Carlos Williams’poem,"The Red Wheelbarrow"as a test-case application of the concepts.

摘要： Some artistic characteristics of poetry distinguish it from other literary genres. This paper mainly discusses the difficulties in poetry translation, including those in translating linguistic features, poetic features, poetic spirit and cultural connotation, especially with examples of translating ancient Chinese poems into English.
