[Class 146 (ii).] A guide for use in teaching writing consists of a templet having two side edges with parts i, i1 shaped to indicate the correct angles for the up - strokes and downstrokes respectively when the base edge a is placed parallel with the lines of writing. The templet may be made of cardboard, wood, &c., and bear printed specimen letters and instructions, or may be made of celluloid or other transparent material and bear guide lines f, g parallel to the edges i, i1 and a line h to be set parallel to the lines of writing. The edges i, i1 can be used for ruling guide lines, and curved portions m, n may be provided in the edges for practising curved strokes. In another modification the guide is in the form of a frame of wire or other material.
