The invention relates to pharmaceutical preparations which combine, in several forms, as active substances, either 1 amiodarone and a nitro derivative and optionally a beta-blocker, or 2 amiodarone and a beta-blocker and optionally a nitro derivative. This pharmaceutical preparation in oral and parenteral forms, containing, apart from standard excipients or adjuvants, in the weight ratios defined by the inventor, amiodarone combined with isosorbide dinitrate, or with trinitrin and/or atenolol, acebutolol or metoprolol, exerts a cardioprotective action that makes it possible, in acute coronary insufficiency, to prevent myocardial infarction in some cases, its extension in most cases and sudden death generally. In acute coronary insufficiency, it permits, in some cases, an efficacy greater than that of either of the components administered alone and/or a decrease in side effects through the use of a lower dosage. It permits an improvement in the quality of life.
