Four different monoclonal antibodies (MAb) directed specifically against NAP/IL-8 (human neutrophile-activating peptide/interleukin 8) are new. Pref. MAb are made by immunising mice with NAP/IL-8, fusing spleen cells with murine myeloma cells, then cloning the resulting hybridomas. Clones which produce MAb are selected and propagated in sterile cell cultures. USE/ADVANTAGE - MAb (when used in pairs) are reagents for quantitative determination of NAP/IL-8 (by sandwich-ELISA) in biological fluid (as an alternative to known bioassays which are subject to false positives caused by other mediators). They can also be used for affinity purification of NAP/IL-8.
