A pitched roof is insulated by insulating panels (10) made from mineral fibres, which are jammed in between the rafters (12), the inwardly-facing faces of which panels are provided with a vapour-impermeable covering and the faces facing the roofing (19) with a plywood structure (20) which, on the drain-away side, extends beyond the edge of the insulating body of the panels (10) by means of a border (21) forming a water-shedding surface.
