PURPOSE:To make comparison and study from only the numerical data by simultaneously displaying the spot of a known material in an image plane, setting X-Y axis on the image plane of a computer to obtain the X-Y coordinate value of the spot in a migration gel pattern to be measured and identifying the material contained in the gel pattern from the resulted coordinate value. CONSTITUTION:The secondary migration pattern of the material to be measured fixed by a holder to prevent positional deviation is set on a light box and is photographed by a television camera from above. The image is inputted as an original picture into the computer. The image distortion of the inputted original picture is corrected on the image plane of the computer. The spot of the marker material of known pH and mol. wt. put into the gel pattern to be measured is simultaneously displayed on the image plane and the X-Y axis is set on the image plane of the computer to obtain the X-Y coordinate value of the spot in the migration gel pattern to be measured. The material contained in the gel pattern is specified by the resulted X-Y coordinate value. The material is thus compared and studied only by the numerical data.
