METHOD FOR SELECTING TRANSLATION WORD AND DEVICE FOR PREPARING DICTIONARY FOR UNIFICATION OF TRANSLATION WORD

PURPOSE:To provide a method and device for selecting a proper translation word corresponding to a term in an original text by generating a unified translation word even when terms in the original text are not unified without changing the system constitution of a translation system. CONSTITUTION:The morphem analysis result of a sentence to be translation object is stored in a morphem analysis table (112), a molpheme having plural translation word is extracted from the table to a translation use dictionary and stored in a corresponding translation table (113). A translation word common to plural Japanese words is extracted (115) and a list allowing the Japanese word to one to one correspond to the translation word is prepared (116). A translation word unification dictionary storing only the contents of the list is prepared (117) and translation processing is executed by preferentially using the translation word unification dictionary. Thereby an original text can be prepared without being conscious of the unification of terms, and even when terms in the original text are not unified, their translation word can be unified. In addition, it is unnecessary to change the system constitution of translation processing.
