PURPOSE:To transform an original language to an object language without losing the meaning of an original language expression with respect to an expression peculiar to the original language or an expression which cannot be translated word for word by using an idiomatic phrase dictionary having a pair of expression of the original language-the object language for every idiomatic expression. CONSTITUTION:In order to analyze and transform the idiomatic expression, an item for describing the presence and the absence of a modification to respective words and the grammatical and meaning role of a modifier on the respective words constituting the idiomatic expression, and the idiomatic phrase dictionary 4 consisting of a pair of the original word expression and the object language expression corresponding thereto are used, the idiomatic expression is extracted from an original language sentence 1 inputted from an input device, further, words and phrases modifying the word constituting the idiomatic expression analyzes the grammatical and meaning role to the idiomatic expression, the analyzed result is transformed to the expression 8 of the corresponding object language. Thereby, when the words constituting the idiomatic expression successively appear in the original language, or separately appear, they are recognized as the idiomatic expression to analyze and transform irrespective it.
