As one of the most influential English novelists, essayists, journalists and critics, George Orwell wrote many famous political works, among which Marrakech is a representative. This paper tries to decode this essay by the stylistic devices in the lexical, syntactical and discourse level. It wants to prove that decoding a text from a linguistic perspective can help readers further understand and fully appreciate a work and provide a new method for English learners to effectively understand a text and improve their language competence.
