PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a powdery food raw material capable of being expected to have a digestive absorption-controlling action, a blood lipid metabolism- controlling action, a blood glucose-controlling action, an antioxidizing action, a mutagen activation-inhibiting action, a carcinogenesis process-inhibiting action, etc., by steaming mulberry leaves and subsequently drying the steamed leaves into the powdery product. SOLUTION: Picked mulberry leaves are washed, steamed and subsequently dried to obtain the powdery food raw material plentifully containing physiological function-activating ingredients such as dietary fibers, vitamins, retinol and carotenoids, electrolytes such as Ca, K and Fe and essential vitamins and capable of being added to foods. The addition of one or plural kinds of Japanese apricot kernel, Japanese apricot flesh, perilla leaf and green tea powdery food raw materials to the mulberry leaf powdery food raw material gives a health food more effective for the maintenance of health and capable of being stored for a longer period than in the case using only the mulberry leaf powdery food raw material.
