Navigation system for probe needles, biopsy needles or surgical instruments using a CT or MRT system, a computer with image processing modules and 2 or more infrared sensors coupled spatially to the imaging device and a tracker device with 3 or more infrared LEDs. In addition the system comprises calibration means for the image recording sensors and means for extraction and labeling of selected anatomical tissue.
