Use of a C1-esterase inhibitor comprising a sialic-acid-containing glycoprotein that neutralizes viruses and their toxic components pathogenic to human, for diagnosing, treating and preventing acute viral infections
C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-INH) comprising a sialic-acid-containing glycoprotein, is used for neutralizing viruses and their toxic components pathogenic to human. The C1-INH is also claimed to modulate the immune response against influenza virus, paramyxovirus and rotavirus and for separating viruses with membrane constituent as acceptors. C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-INH) is used for neutralizing viruses and their toxic components pathogenic to human. The pathogenic agents have membrane constituents with acceptor functions, such as hemagglutinins and/or neuraminidase. The C1-INH is also claimed to modulate the immune response against influenza virus, paramyxovirus and rotavirus and for separating viruses with membrane constituent as acceptors. The C1-INH is used as a constituent of human vaccine to infectious agents having membranes containing glycoprotein or glycolipid components. ACTIVITY : Virucide. No test details are given. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Neuraminidase-Inhibitor; Vaccine (claimed). No test details are given.
