The method involves detecting sensor measured values by using a sensor of a measuring unit (12). The sensor or the sensor measured values are localized within an environment in consideration of a stored model (Z1) of the environment. Localization data is provided, and simulated measured values are provided in consideration of localization data and the stored model by a simulation unit (16). The simulated measured values and sensor measured values are compared by using a comparison unit (18). An independent claim is also included for a device for sensor-based monitoring of an actual condition of an environment, comprising a measuring unit.
