Extracting a natural substance by synthesis in a bioreactor, comprises producing the natural substance as a metabolic product or fermentation product in a culture medium, which is contained in the bioreactor and contains a growth medium and enzymes or microorganisms, and extracting the produced natural substance with the help of a sorbing material, where the sorbing material is at least a molecularly shaped polymer, where the culture medium is produced during the extraction of the further natural substance. An independent claim is included for a bioreactor for extracting a natural substance by synthesis, comprising a culture medium for producing the natural substance as metabolic product or fermentation product, where the culture medium contains a growth medium and enzymes or microorganisms, a sorbing material for extracting the produced natural substance, where the bioreactor is furnished furthermore for extracting the natural substance without interruption of a production of the natural substance in the culture medium.
