The monitoring device comprises two sensor units (S1,S2) which are arranged in the ergonomically shaped region (B) of the steering wheel (3) of vehicle (1), by which the user holds the steering wheel. The sensor units are arranged at the back of the steering wheel and are comprised of a pulse detection unit, pressure sensor, and/or a humidity sensor. The sensor units are connected to the steering wheel spoke (3.3) or the steering wheel rim (3.1) which is connected to the steering wheel spoke.
