The method involves detecting activation of an electrical appliance i.e. electrical de-icing system (3). A control parameter e.g. rotor blade pitch angle, is monitored by measuring the control parameter during activation of the appliance, by measuring the control parameter after a time period from the activation of the electrical appliance, and by comparing a difference between the control parameters that are measured during the activation of the appliance and after the time period, with a threshold value. Power provided by a generator (1) is increased in case of activation of the appliance. An independent claim is also included for an electrical appliance operation monitoring device.
