The system (1) has a fuel cell (3) provided with an anode compartment (5) and a cathode compartment (4). The anode compartment and the cathode compartment are arranged in a housing (10). A lead (11) is connected with an output of the cathode compartment of the fuel cell. Drying devices (7, 8) are installed between the cathode compartment and the lead in the housing. A dissipation part (12) connects the housing with an exhibiting region of a catalytic material. A gas flow amount confinement device (13) is fixed with the lead and the dissipation part. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a fuel cell system.
