The present invention provides a leg-muscular strength assisting robot for elderly people, and a control method of the leg-muscular strength assisting robot for elderly people. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the leg-muscular strength assisting robot for elderly people comprises: a driving portion for generating torque; a connecting portion for transmitting the torque to a frame worn by a user′s leg using an elastic body; a joint angle measuring portion for measuring a change in a joint angle in accordance with a leg motion of the user; a walking step estimating portion estimating a walking step of the user based on the change in the joint angle; and a control portion for determining the joint angle corresponding to the estimated walking step and controlling the driving portion to generate a torque corresponding to the determined joint angle.
