The present invention relates to a method for controlling a lead steer of an active front wheel steering system. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an improved method for controlling a lead steer, wherein the method is capable of improving responsiveness of a steering system and vehicle responsiveness compared to a map-based lead steer control method. To achieve the purpose, the method comprises: a step in which a controller receives a driver input steering angle detected by a sensor as driver steering input information; a step in which the controller calculates a gain value for steering compensation using a numerical lead steer control (NLC) calculation formula set from a driver steering frequency obtained from a steering angle signal of the sensor; a step in which the controller compensates the driver input steering angle by using the calculated gain value and outputs a control signal for outputting the compensated steering angle; and a step in which an active front steering system (AFS) controls the driving of an actuator according to a control signal output by the controller and outputs the compensated steering angle.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
