Embodiments of the present invention relate to an apparatus for estimating the personality of a user based on accumulated short-term personality characteristics including a short-term personality characteristic processing unit for sensing a reaction of a user receiving a specific task to generate a short-term personality characteristic for the user, a personality characteristic database for storing short-term personality characteristics for various tasks, and a long-term personality estimating unit for estimating long-term personality of the user using one or more short-term personality characteristics of the user for various tasks stored in the database, and a method using the same. Accordingly, the present invention can more stably estimate the personality of the user.
