An enclosure 1 defines at least two chambers 5, 6, separated by a plurality of walls 8. The enclosure further comprises an electricity meter 3 in one of the chambers and a gas meter 2 in another of the chambers. Charging circuitry 4 for an electric vehicle may also be provided in a third chamber 7 and a fourth chamber (150; figure 6) may further be provided for terminating or splicing fibre-optic cables. At least one of the walls of the enclosure comprises a hollow skin filled with fire-retardant material such as polyurethane foam, which may be introduced through a port (13; figure 2) in the side of the enclosure. Further enclosures with cradles for installation on a building are also disclosed (figures 12, 13).
