摘要

Jason Consultants International, Inc. under the sponsorship of the Gas ResearchInstitute (GRI) conducted a program to test and evaluate promising trenchless rehabilitation technologies for lining gas distribution service pipes that were developed outside of the U.S., particularly in Japan and Europe. To begin the program, a group of gas industry executives traveled to Japan to evaluate technologies in use at Osaka Gas and Tokyo Gas. Several systems were identified which could be applied to service piping systems in the U.S. This included the Paltem Reverse Lining System, NEXT Technique and the HIT system. Actual field trials were performed at U.S. gas utilities using the Paltem Reverse Lining System from October 1995 to March 1996. This system can be applied successfully to service pipes ranging in diameter from 1 to 4 inches and lengths up to 90 feet. A three-person crew can line at least three services per day. the Paltem Reverse Lining System can handle complex service pipe configurations including bends with minimal excavations. Due to budgetary constraints at GRI and problems with technology transfer, it was not possible to conduct trials using the other identified service renewal systems.
