Regulator to clarify drilling safety rule

US offshore regulators are easing some of the drilling safety regulations imposed after the Macondo disaster that offshore operators have found most onerous. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) director James Watson wants to refocus some of the reg- ulatory attention from drilling to produc- tion activities, “so people do not think production is just a walk to the park”.
